Patient Story of: Raychel Kruper

Chronic knee pain nearly sidelined her dreams until she found expert care at HSS.

For years, frequent kneecap dislocations and persistent knee pain prevented Raychel from pursuing her goal of playing Division I college soccer. After previous surgeries failed to resolve the problem, the physical and emotional toll continued to grow.

Seeking answers, Raychel turned to Beth E. Shubin Stein, MD, a sports medicine surgeon at HSS specializing in patellofemoral disorders. Dr. Shubin Stein performed medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction and tibial tubercle transfer procedures on both knees to restore stability and function.

Today, Raychel is back to living an active life. From beach walks and hiking to paddleboarding, weight training, and fitness classes, she is making the most of an international work assignment in Ireland.
