Amani Toomer

I grew up playing football in Northern California before attending the University of Michigan in 1992. I was drafted by the Giants in the second round of the 1996 NFL Draft and spent my entire 13-year career there. I underwent two separate knee surgeries at HSS during my career. During my rookie season in 1996, I injured my right knee in a game against Washington and had to have surgery on my ACL. Then, in 2006, I tore my other ACL in a game against Houston and had to undergo a second ACL surgery. Both times I was injured I was taken care of by Dr. Russell Warren, a longtime Giants team physician and sports medicine surgeon at HSS.

Today, I like to stay active by cycling and participating in long distance rides. I can truly say that I would not be able to do any of that today without the care that HSS gave me during my playing career. I cannot thank the doctors and nurses at HSS enough for repairing both of my knees and helping me get through a 13-year NFL career and be able to enjoy my active life today post-football.
