I had a posterior knee dislocation severing the popliteal artery. Tore my ACL, PCL & LCL and had damage to the peroneal nerve. Vascular repairs and treatment for compartment syndrome were done on an emergency basis. HSS treated the ligaments and nerve damage. The ACL & LCL were repaired and the peroneal nerve pinch was corrected. After 360 days, I was able to run for the first time. It has been a year and a few months since my surgery at HSS, and I have been hiking, snorkeling and even playing in a basketball league. After my injury no one thought it would be possible for any of that to happen!!
