Each year he performs approximately 500 hip and knee replacements, using the latest technologies designed to improve precision, recovery time, and long-term outcomes.

He also performs CT-based robotic hip and knee replacement using the Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System, an advanced technology that uses a preoperative CT scan to create a 3D model of the joint. Dr. Westrich is Research Director Emeritus of the Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement Service at Hospital for Special Surgery and a Professor of Clinical Orthopedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College, where he trains the next generation of orthopedic surgeons.

He has published more than 330 scientific articles and book chapters, and his research focuses on improving joint replacement outcomes, reducing complications such as blood clots and infection, and extending the lifespan of implants.
