Dr. Emily Dodwell is a board certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon specializing in pediatric orthopedic trauma and lower extremity reconstruction including treatment of limb deformities, congenital malformations, hip and foot abnormalities, and the orthopedic care of children with neuromuscular conditions.

Dr. Dodwell is Canadian and completed her undergraduate degree in engineering and her medical doctorate at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. She completed her orthopedic residency training at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and obtained her research and public health degree (MPH) at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed her pediatric orthopedic fellowship training at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. 

Dr. Dodwell is a Clinician-Scientist, Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Weill Cornell Medical College, and Director of Pediatric Orthopedic Research at HSS. She frequently lectures and mentors medical students, residents, and fellows and is the Co-Director of the Maine Orthopedic Review Course.

Dr. Dodwell is a Pediatric Orthopedic Trauma Faculty member for the AO Trauma Foundation, and regularly presents at AO Webinars and  trauma courses. She also serves as Chair of the E-Editorial (Education) Committee for the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America and is the Deputy Editor for Pediatric Orthopedics at the Journal of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Dodwell is a member of the International Hip Dysplasia Institute Medical Advisory Board, and is the IHDI Coordinator of Global Outreach. Dr. Dodwell is dedicated to improving orthopedic care for children worldwide, and participates annually in humanitarian missions to Colombia where she teaches local doctors in training and treats children with lower extremity deformities. She also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, and for the Perry Initiative, mentoring young women into careers in engineering and orthopedics.

Dr. Dodwell is dedicated to improving pediatric orthopedic care through research. Her main focus is comparative surgical outcomes. She is the recipient of multiple grants, awards and honors, and is the principal investigator of multiple multi-center trials in pediatric orthopedic surgery. Dr. Dodwell has published over 50 peer reviewed manuscripts, and has presented over 100 abstracts at national and international conferences. She has written textbook chapters on trauma, limb lengthening, epiphysiodesis, hip surgery, and neuromuscular conditions.

Dr. Dodwell's approach to caring for infants, children and adolescents involves personalized treatments, both operative and non-operative, that are supported by the latest evidence. She treats patients at HSS and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (Cornell) in Manhattan and at HSS Brooklyn at Industry City.

Dr. Dodwell lives with her husband and children in Manhattan. In her free time, she enjoys time with her family, reading, cooking, skiing and kayaking.
