In April, I had a complete tear of the distal biceps tendon in my left arm while at work. I received a misdiagnosis by an ER doctor, who told me I strained it and that there was no need for imaging to be done. Thankfully I had the sense to seek out a second opinion.

I received an MRI showing a complete tear of the tendon. Once I knew surgery was the best course of action to regain full strength in the arm, I had to find the right surgeon. My mom strongly recommended HSS, informing me that they are #1 in the country for orthopedics. Well, after my experience with Dr. DiFelice, I know why they’re ranked #1.

Dr. DiFelice made me feel extremely comfortable with the whole process and I knew I made the right choice. On the day of the surgery the entire HSS team was awesome. Everyone I interacted with was extremely friendly and professional.

It has been 2 months to the day since the surgery and recovery is going exactly how Dr. DiFelice explained it would. He was very adamant about not using a sling or cast, and that I should get the arm moving as soon as possible after the surgery. I completely agreed with this approach and I credit that, along with his skill as a surgeon, as the reason I’m recovering so well.

I’m already curling 10lb weights and the injury never crossed my mind while on a 2 week vacation in Italy.
