Meniscus Tear (Torn Meniscus)

Bridget Moschetti

I’m a competitive Irish dancer that dances for fun after work and on weekends. I’ve been a dancer since I was three and studied ballet, tap, pointe, modern, lyrical and Irish dance. As an adult, I continued with ballet, tap an Irish dance, and eventually just focused on Irish dance.

I tore my meniscus in November at our regional dance competition called the Mid Atlantic region Oireachtas. I had surgery in January and three months later I placed third at a local feis (Irish dance competition) in the open championship level of dance, which is the highest level of Irish dance there is.

The young lady who won first is a high placing world champion, regional champion, and national champion. The young lady that got second is a national and regional champion and competes at the world championships each year. I placed right behind them at my second competition back.

Prior to my injury, I’ve never placed this high, and I’m noticing my knee is a lot stronger than it was before and I can do dance moves that I was never able to do.

I’m very thankful for my team at HSS - Dr. DiFelice for repairing my knee and my team at joint movement PT for rehabbing me back to better than ever. I have a few more local competitions coming up before our nationals in Nashville Tennessee.

Thank you for reading

Bridget
