Dante Farrell-Brown

My name is Dante Farrell-Brown. Finding out that I would need hip arthroscopy surgery and miss my junior year football season was hard to handle. It was made a little easier after meeting Dr. Anil Ranawat. He explained the surgery so I understood everything he was going to do and the length of my recovery (6 months). So on July 7th, 2022 I went to HSS to have my surgery. Being 16, I was a little bit nervous but I have to say everyone that I came in contact with made me feel less and less by the time Dr. Ranawat came into mark my hip. I knew and felt I was in great hands. The nurses in recovery were great also. I wasn’t sure what to expect pain wise but I have to say it wasn’t bad. I like that Dr. Ranawat had strict instructions and guidelines for PT and machines he wanted me to use. Every check up I went to at his office I felt more and more comfortable because of his friendly staff. Dr. Ranawat took my recovery slow but steady so I had no setbacks. He had it so I knew what and where I should be in my PT. Everything was explained when I would see him and also in the paperwork he would give me. I believe because of him I healed faster than anyone thought I would. On October 11th, 2022 I was cleared to start light football practice. On October 28th, I would play in my first football game. Though I had limited playing time because it was my first game I had a couple of tackles, an interception, and ran the ball a couple of times. I even took a blind side hit to my leg. I ended up playing in 4 games. I feel strong and fast no pain. I owe it all to Dr. Anil Ranawat and HSS. I would also like to thank MaryClaire Pelletier, Paul Tutundgy, and Kesley Domingo for all the help, phone calls, and emails. I also would like to give a special thank you to Dr Anil Ranawat for giving me back my athletic career. I can’t wait to see how baseball season goes. If you are having this or any other surgery I recommend you check with HSS and Dr. Ranawat. You will be in great hands.
