I ran for years and had nearly perpetual hip pain for the last year. It was a pain that interrupted my sleep and kept me from doing some athletic things I loved. Nonetheless, I continued to run, and while training for a marathon in 2015 the pain increased to be 'unbearable.'

I knew of Dr. Boettner and HSS as previously he replaced my mother-in-laws knees and coincidentally, he had performed hip resurfacing on a two friends. A subsequent X-Ray revealed a bone-on-bone condition in my left hip, and an initial shot to alleviate the pain lasted only a few days. Initially it was disbelief that at the age of 49 I needed hip surgery, but I opted to move forward in December 2015.

It was the best decision I've ever made. Dr. Boettner and the entire staff at HSS are world class, and the recovery was directly in step with their projection and direction. Six months later, I am completely pain free, I feel better, stronger and more athletic than I have in years, and I'm literally 'back in the game' and able to participate in the athletic activities that I love.
