I was in pain for 5 years, the doctor I was seeing kept telling me to lose weight, which I found impossible to accomplish since I couldn't move. I was using a cane because just walking was extremely painful. I was miserable and never smiled. Dr. Salvati was recommended to me and I went to see him on a Tuesday. The following Tuesday, I was at Hospital for Special Surgery having my surgery. I was released from the hospital 2 days later on Thanksgiving morning. I had so much to be thankful for: Dr. Salvati, the HSS staff, the nurses, the care, a successful surgery and most of all, a new start on living life pain free with my new hip. The following year, at 60 years old, I got married and danced non stop, pain free for hours. I tell everyone I can how wonderful my surgery was due to Hospital for Special Surgery and Dr. Salvati. It changed my life.
