Hip Replacement Surgery
I am deeply grateful to Dr. Debbi, HSS, and every member of the team who helped restore my quality of life.
I tried everything I could to avoid having my left hip replaced. When it finally became clear that I could no longer put it off, I began researching where to go and which surgeon to trust. The process felt overwhelming.
Fortunately, I reached out to a friend who had recently undergone hip replacement surgery at HSS. She told me, without hesitation, that I needed to see Dr. Debbi. As a lifelong tennis player, she shared that after her surgery she was able to return to playing tennis at a semi-professional level. That was all the convincing I needed.
I called Dr. Debbi’s office, and my journey began.
In February 2025, I underwent my left hip replacement. Dr. Debbi and his team were exceptional, not only as highly skilled medical professionals and surgeons, but also as responsive, compassionate, and genuinely caring people. Every nurse and staff member I encountered, both at HSS in New York City, where I had surgery, and at the White Plains campus, where I attended my pre- and post-operative appointments, was knowledgeable, professional, kind, and efficient. The entire experience ran like clockwork.
By my six-week follow-up appointment, thanks to physical therapy and carefully following all post-operative instructions, I was back on my feet, pain-free, and enjoying significantly improved mobility.
Three months later, however, I began experiencing the same issues in my right hip. This time, I didn’t wait. Rather than postponing the inevitable, I scheduled a second hip replacement, which took place in November 2025. Determined to give myself the best possible outcome, I completed two months of pre-surgery physical therapy to build strength before the procedure.
Once again, Dr. Debbi, his team, and the staff at HSS New York City were there every step of the way. Their expertise, responsiveness to my questions and concerns, and attentive follow-up care were truly unmatched. Just six weeks after surgery, I was experiencing a level of strength, mobility, and pain-free living that I had not enjoyed in years.
The timing could not have been better. My first grandchild was born on Christmas Day 2025. Every time I kneel on the floor to play with him and easily stand back up with him in my arms, I silently thank Dr. Debbi and everyone at HSS.
This summer, I achieved something I never thought possible: completing an adult ocean swimming and water safety program near my home in East Hampton, New York. I have never considered myself a strong ocean swimmer, and without the strength and mobility I gained over the past eight months, I doubt I would have had the confidence to overcome my fears and complete the program. The adult participants even competed in the annual Junior Lifeguard Competition. I was thrilled to take part.
I am deeply grateful to Dr. Debbi, HSS, and every member of the team who helped restore my quality of life. Today, I live pain-free, take no medications, and continue to rebuild my strength and mobility so I can fully enjoy the activities and people I love most.
Thank you, Dr. Debbi, HSS, and the entire staff. You truly change lives.
