Dr. Douglas Mintz is a radiologist specializing in musculoskeletal imaging. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology and a Fellow of the American College of Radiology. His primary expertise is in interpreting magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations, his proficiency extends to radiographs (X-rays), computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine, ultrasound, and performing image-guided procedures.

Dr. Mintz's interests coincide with the Hospital's specialties. He has a particular interest in imaging hips and the patellofemoral joint, as well as musculoskeletal tumors and pediatric disorders. Sports injuries and spine imaging form a large part of his practice.

He has established an excellent reputation for his clinical work. Castle Connolly and New York Magazine have named Dr. Mintz as one of New York’s Top Doctors in Diagnostic Radiology for more than ten years. He has lectured nationally and internationally, published in journals and textbooks, and regularly reviews articles submitted for publication. He has cared for many professional athletes and sports teams.

Disseminating knowledge is very important: Dr. Mintz has been extremely involved in all levels of education throughout his career at HSS. He has regularly taught medical students, been director of resident education, and has been heavily involved in the management of HSS’ radiology fellowship program. He regularly works with the radiology fellows and works closely with the orthopedic surgery, physiatry, and rheumatology fellowship teaching programs.

Additionally, he is involved with radiology governance and has served as the secretary/treasurer, vice president, and president of the New York Radiological Society and has been extensively involved with the American College of Radiology. He has had leadership roles in the Hospital’s Alumni Association and is currently the Hospital’s historian as president of the Coley Historical Society.
