I came in a year ago with a full Achilles tear and ended up at HSS because that’s what everyone recommended. Dr. Conti was a dream with wonderful bedside manner, lots of data that I could understand, and a kind honest way. It was clear during my recovery and hearing stories from other folks with this injury that he is an exceptionally skilled surgeon that is totally up-to-date on the newest and most effective approaches.

I did my recovery with Joe Giacomo in Westchester and really stuck with twice a week for a year. This morning, I ran 5 miles and I’m chasing my kids around the yard with NERF guns like a maniac. It was hard to imagine even being able to walk again, but Joe was kind and encouraging and pushed me to be the best that I can be.

I’m so grateful to the whole team at HSS for their kindness and encouragement. Joe’s treatment with blood flow restriction therapy, also cutting-edge and data driven, has my calf almost back to normal – an outcome that historically has been almost unheard of. I feel lucky and strong.
