I had ankle surgery 45 years ago but arthritis & swelling started in my ankle over the years, progressively getting worse. So I was told about ankle replacement surgery at HSS. After researching, I chose Dr. Matthew Conti & made an appointment. After x-rays & an MRI, he suggested that ankle replacement surgery might work pending my bone density or an ankle fusion. After our visit he gave me a shot to help the pain, which helped - Dr. Conti said it would take 3-4 months to take effect but it would eventually work. He then scheduled a bone density test & it was decided that the ankle fusion was the way to go. I had my surgery on January 31st & now recovering. Dr. Conti called me the next day to see how I saw doing & explained he was happy the way the surgery went & that I will see good results with my ankle. I'm so pleased that I chose HSS & Dr. Conti. He was outstanding & awesome.
