In 2011, while I was 5 months pregnant with my daughter and pursuing a nursing degree, I was involved in a motor vehicle accident and sustained a tibial plateau fracture and torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus. After the initial fracture treatment, Dr. DiFelice never wavered in his confidence in giving me back my life. After delivering my daughter, HSS was able to promptly schedule me for an MRI, which I was at risk of losing my insurance due to time off work for the previous year. The MRI showed significant damage to my ligaments in my knee and was severely impacting my ability to care for my infant daughter and perform activities of daily living.

Promptly after the MRI was completed, Dr. DiFelice was able to perform knee ligament reconstruction and absolutely changed my life. Twelve years later, I have not only completed my nursing degree but became an orthopedic registered nurse in a level 1 trauma hospital and have now transitioned into leadership at the same hospital in Kansas. I extend my sincere thanks to Dr. DiFelice and his prompt attention to saving my career and livelihood. HSS put me Back in the Game of life!
