While on vacation (of all things!) outside the U.S., I was involved in a traumatic accident, where I suffered a subluxation/partial dislocation of my left hip, resulting in a labral tear and degree of cartilage damage. Despite considerable discomfort and limited mobility, I was able to come back home, where I immediately sought medical attention at HSS. I made an appointment with Dr. Anil Ranawat, an expert in hip preservation, who I immediately felt comfortable and at ease with. One week later I underwent hip arthroscopy to address the structural damage in my hip. I cannot say enough about Dr. Ranawat – an incredibly talented and caring surgeon. He closely monitored my recovery and, given the extent of my injury, developed specific protocols and a personalized rehab plan for me. Recovery took quite some time, with the normal ups and downs, but I am currently about 8 months post-op, feeling great and already back to playing tennis. To Dr. Ranawat, his entire office/team, and everyone at HSS who played a role in helping me get “Back in the Game,” I thank you and am immensely grateful for everything.
