At age 68, severe pain in both of my hips has prevented me from enjoying many activities. Dr. Michael Ast replaced both hips in September and December of 2021. Dr. Ast is far more than an experienced professional surgeon; he is very friendly, patient, engaging and approachable. Both surgeries were easy and same-day discharge. I was walking pain-free just one day after each of the surgeries, which was an unexpectedly cheerful experience. I also want to thank the entire team of care providers at HSS, who were extremely professional and helpful. I enjoyed snowboarding just three months after the 2nd surgery, and tennis a few months later. Bonus benefit: while carrying bags from the garage with both arms, I can stand on one leg and open the door to the kitchen with my foot. Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Ast and HSS.
