Amanda Balsamo

My daughter Amanda Balsamo was a 10 year old level 7 Gymnast with USAG Gymnastics when she was diagnosed with Bilateral Osteochondritis Dissecans in her knees. After researching the condition and watching Dr. Peter Fabricant's video on the HSS website I knew he was going to be the best doctor for my daughter. He reviewed her MRI and went in to great detail about her condition. He told us that both of her lesions had signs of instability and surgery would be her best option for a full recovery. She had surgery on each knee 6 weeks apart. It is a tricky condition and she had to follow strict rules limiting her physical activities. As a gymnast this wasn't easy. After 7 months from her diagnosis Amanda was cleared back to Gymnastics. Her x-rays now show normal knees and she is fully recovered, pain-free and back to sports. At her first Gymnastics meet back after surgery Amanda won 3rd Place at the Big Apple Classic Competition. We were so happy for her. She has recently started competing for Long Island Competition Cheer and she is specializing in Tumbling! We are so happy we met with Dr. Peter Fabricant and thrilled our daughter is back doing what she loves. We had a wonderful experience at HSS.
