I'm so happy to have found Dr. Cammisa. He has not only improved my quality of life, but is also a master at the work he does. Before finding Dr. Cammisa, I went through 3 years of extensive back treatments including NSAI medications, physical therapy, chiropractics, acupuncture, 15 various spinal injections and a 2-level Diskectomy & Laminectomy of the lumbar spine. Unfortunately, I did not find any relief through any of the procedures listed, I actually was beginning to feel worse and worse as time went on.

I was feeling incredibly at only 4 weeks post-surgery and can already feel a significant improvement in my back and instant relief of leg pain. I felt significant better within days of the surgery. Dr. Cammisa performed a 2-level lumbar fusion-LLIF of my L4-L5 disk, ALIF of my L5-S1 disk with a COFLEX-F device as a substitute for screws and rods-which through research I found is a very rare and difficult technique to master. I personally never knew this device existed before consulting with Dr. Cammisa. It is innovative and words not enough to explain how amazing Dr. Cammisa is as a person and a doctor-surgeon. I know people who had micro lumbar discectomy and fusion who not only endured severe back pain from their injury but then also had to endure post-operative pain. Post-op was not a negative experience for me, it was like an actual miracle, I felt immediate relief from Dr. Cammisa surgery and minimal negative symptoms. After reviewing all of my medical records, Dr. Cammisa knew exactly what I needed and recommended the most minimally invasive surgery for a faster recovery. All in all, I would say that he is not only a genius but one of the most attentive, compassionate and caring doctor I've met through this experience. Although my back injury was unfortunate, I feel that this experience was a positive one because of meeting Dr. Cammisa. Thank you Dr. Cammisa and the awesome, incredible, excellent, compassionate and caring PA's, nurses and the entire staff at Hospital For Special Surgery. I would recommend Dr. Cammisa to anyone- If I had to go through all the pain and suffering again, I'd do it again with Dr. Cammisa and HSS.
