When I first came to HSS I was in complete denial that I was in need of a total hip replacement at the age of 42. I fought it tooth and nail but my quality of life had deteriorated to the point of chronic pain for three straight years. I had been seeing an orthopedist elsewhere and came to HSS for a second opinion. When I met Dr. Nawabi, I immediately felt that I was in very good hands. He was not pushy or knife happy, he listened to my many (many) questions and stayed until every last question was answered. When I left his office, I felt as though I had been very well informed and educated on my condition and my options. I have never been more terrified by anything in my entire life, but Dr. Nawabi made me feel very confident in my decision to have a total hip replacement. Had I known then the relief I would get almost instantaneously, I never would have waited as long as I had. Dr. Nawabi made such a difference in my life and knowing that I will eventually need to have my other hip replaced as well, there is a calmness now in knowing that I will be cared for by the best of the best.
