I came into HSS with a hip injury after a terrible crash during a triathlon. A had already seen one doctor that told me that an open exploratory surgery might be needed with a long recovery time. Dr. Buly did an incredible job of assessing my injury, and utilizing innovative, minimally invasive procedure to fix both my torn labrum and my hip impingement. As a result, I actually have better range of motion in my hip than I had before the surgery. The procedure also corrected an impingement that would have caused more severe damage later on in life, potentially saving me from a hip replacement.

Three months after the surgery, I was able to dance with my wife at our wedding, 7 months post-surgery I qualified for the Boston Marathon, and 6 months after that I qualified for my first US National Triathlon Championship.

I will never forget the strong sense of empathy, the ethic of care, and the strong desire to help me make fact-based decisions from Dr. Buly and his team. I will never forget the incredible way that HSS treated and communicated with my family during and after the surgery. I have done a lot of work to become a nationally competitive triathlete, but without Dr. Buly none of it would have been possible. Dr. Buly and his team do the work of angels, and I am forever in their debt.
