I got back in the game by choosing one of the most highly skilled surgeons in the country, Dr. Friedrich Boettner, at Hospital for Special Surgery. After doing my research, I believed that it was worth traveling from Dallas, TX to NYC for this important operation.

In May 2013, I had a total right hip replacement with the anterior approach and the result was so good that I returned in May of 2015 to have the same procedure on my left hip. For the first time in several years, I am walking pain free and spent Labor Day Weekend with my husband and friends in NYC. The picture is of us on the Hi-Line. I could not have tolerated this much walking before my surgery, but now I can more than keep up! For those facing surgery, understand that much of your stress will be alleviated by knowing that you have picked a top surgeon like Dr. Boettner. Yes, it’s surgery, so you must give some time and patience to the healing process, but I walked out of the hospital with a cane and was driving in three weeks. Do you think I’m happy and grateful to this remarkable doctor, his staff and this hospital? That would be a huge, YES!
