A passionate rower all my life I was pretty heartbroken when I was told that I would not be able to perform my favorite sport again. I had developed a SLAP tear in my left shoulder and before arriving at HSS, another surgeon had suggested treatment that would have altered the geometry of the affected shoulder, leaving it weaker. After my consultation with Dr. Lawrence V. Gulotta, he decided to repair the torn labrum arthroscopically. He performed a SLAP repair and shaved the humerus to bring back perfect functionality. Thanks to the excellent care of Dr. Gulotta and his team I was able to compete in the Head of the Charles six months post-op and already completed three more regattas this year, winning the latest.
