Deirdre S. Rodericks, MD
Physiatry, Spine, Sports Medicine

Dr. Deirdre Rodericks is a physiatrist at HSS and board certified in Sports Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is primarily dedicated to the care of her patients and works with people of all backgrounds and abilities to help them reach their specific goals, improve their function, and maximize their performance. In pursuit of this, she is interested in seeing all non-operative musculoskeletal issues, including the spine, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle, and foot. She believes in using a team-based approach, with input from physical therapists, coaches, trainers, and other physicians to develop an individualized care plan that suits her patient's needs. Dr. Rodericks emphasizes lifestyle modifications and exercise as treatment, though is also proficient in shockwave therapy, ultrasound- and fluoroscopic-guided procedures, which she performs when appropriate.
Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Rodericks attained her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. She went on to complete her residency at Northwestern University Mcgaw Medical Center/Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago. She then pursued additional training with a fellowship in Spine and Sports Medicine at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City and spent her early career at Massachusetts General Hospital/Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston before joining the faculty at Hospital for Special Surgery.
Outside of clinic, Dr. Rodericks is passionate about education. She received additional training in residency to improve her teaching and curriculum building skills. She has also given numerous institutional lectures on musculoskeletal medicine and received a teaching award for her efforts. Additionally, Dr. Rodericks has served on a number of national committees, where she developed a mentoring program, led networking events and panels, and contributed to evaluation tools for residents and sports medicine fellows. She has been avidly involved in resident education and mentorship. She believes her interest in education has translated well into teaching her patients and hopes to become further involved in community-based education initiatives.
