Livestrong featured HSS senior nutritionist Heidi Skolnik, MS, CDN, FACSM, who offered pre-workout meal tips.
Skolnik recommended eating a banana and Greek yogurt prior to weightlifting, or drinking a latte with milk.
Additionally, she suggested eating an hour or more before exercising. "The further away from working out, the greater the size and more complex the snack can be," Skolnik said.
