Dr. Samuel Taylor talks youth sports and preparation

Giants.com—September 14, 2018

Giants.com featured HSS sports medicine surgeon Samuel A. Taylor, MD, in a video on the importance of youth athletes participating in a variety of sports to avoid overuse injuries.

"As you can imagine while you’re practicing one particular sport, it requires a specific set of motions and movements and muscle groups for that. If that’s all you’re doing year-round, then there is the risk of overtraining," said Dr. Taylor.

"It’s very important for kids at any age to be participating in a number of different sports that require different movements and different activities and muscle groups to be used," he added.
