Intended for current medical students interested in taking a gap year between their third and fourth years.

Undergraduates
Post-Undergraduate Research Program, 1 year position
Intended for students who have completed their bachelor's degree with an interest in pursuing a career in orthopedic surgery. Research coordinators work closely with the pediatric orthopedic surgeons at HSS, working on clinical research studies from origination through publication. The year provides students with an excellent introduction to orthopedic research, as well as to the field of pediatric orthopedic surgery.
Responsibilities include:
- Data collection and analysis
- Identifying patients eligible for studies and obtaining consent
- Presenting project proposals to the attendings
- Writing abstracts, posters, and manuscripts
- Weekly research meetings with faculty
Students are encouraged to participate in the resident-based weekly conferences and attend clinic or the operating room if interested.
