Patient Story of: Luke Resnick

About two and a half years ago, I was running my first half marathon when pain started in my right hip around mile 8. Half a mile from the finish, I could no longer hop my way forward. I sat down on the ground, unable to move.

A few hours later, I was at HSS and in the care of William Ricci, MD. Looking back, I feel lucky to have ended up where I did. It was a long surgery and a long recovery, and Dr. Ricci did everything possible to make sure my hip could heal and come back stronger than before.

A month ago, I completed Ironman Lake Placid in just over 11 hours. This once-broken hip carried my body 2.4 miles in the water, 112 miles on a bike and then a full marathon on foot – with no pain. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Ricci and his team for that.
