My foot pain began in the spring of 2023 after a long stretch of marathons and triathlons. What started as a minor issue gradually worsened to the point that I had to stop high-impact training altogether. Over the following months, I consulted several physicians and tried physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, and activity modification. Despite my efforts, nothing provided meaningful relief, and no one could give me a definitive diagnosis.

Dr. Conti was the one who finally identified the problem. Thanks to his keen clinical insight and the decision to obtain a CT scan - rather than relying solely on the MRI studies I had previously undergone - he diagnosed an osteochondral lesion of the navicular that others had missed.

He took the time to thoroughly explain the diagnosis and walk me through the surgical plan, discussing the benefits, risks, and realistic expectations with honesty and clarity. In February 2025, nearly two years after my symptoms first began, he repaired the cartilage defect using a BioCartilage and bone marrow aspirate procedure. The surgery was executed flawlessly. Not only have the results been outstanding, but the incision healed so well that there is virtually no visible scar.

Twelve months later, I was able to begin running again. Now, less than a year and a half after surgery, I am back to running more than 20 miles per week completely pain-free and am already looking forward to racing again.
