Dr. David Helfet:

Nearly 20 years ago, my life changed in an instant when I was run over by a bus while riding my bicycle to work. I was rushed into emergency care with catastrophic injuries, and it was Dr. David Helfet at HSS who led the life-saving orthopedic efforts that gave me a second chance. His surgical expertise and leadership were extraordinary during a time when survival was far from guaranteed. I’m also deeply grateful to the many doctors and nurses at NewYork-Presbyterian who played critical roles in my care and recovery.

Over the years, my relationship with Dr. Helfet has grown into a genuine friendship. He continues to care for me and manage lingering accident-related issues with the same dedication and compassion he showed from day one. I truly would not be here without Dr. Helfet, his team at HSS, and the incredible professionals at NYP. I owe them my life.
