In my head I’m still 16 years old, but I’m 57. Roller disco at Central Park? Of course, let’s go! Five minutes in and hello right trimalleolar fracture! I’m also a nurse with 35+ years at NYP WCMC and 20 years in the ER. I knew I injured myself enough to need an ER and was able to make sure EMS took me to NYP where I was met by the best of the best - the relationship through HSS at NYP was paramount to my road to recovery! Dr. Behrens and his team were on call for orthopedic emergencies that night - foot and ankle trauma are his specialty! I was always physically active and missed being in the 5K run/walks immediately after my injury. Needless to say, exactly one year later, I’m Back in the Game and was able to participate in this year’s Turkey Trot!
