For about two years, I had such terrible knee pain because, as tests showed, I was bone on bone. This became a real issue for my lifestyle. I was unable to take long, fast walks with my wife. In addition, I volunteer at two animal shelters as a dog walker, so it was imperative for me to be able to walk for hours. The knee injections weren’t helping me any longer. I knew I had to take the next step.

When I heard from the orthopedist that I might be a candidate for a partial knee replacement, I sought out the best hospital, the best surgeon, and the best technology I could find. Selecting the hospital was a no-brainer because Hospital for Special Surgery is No. 1 in the US. Why would I go anywhere else?! I was so lucky to have found Dr. Andrew Pearle there. Dr. Pearle set up the robotics lab at HSS and has done more of these surgeries than anyone else. I found Dr. Pearle so easy to talk to. He spent time with me and answered all my questions. He confirmed that I was a candidate for a partial knee replacement and that I could be in and out of the hospital in one day. I had the surgery in October, 2017. Everything went like clockwork.

I am now back to the gym, walking, and cycling — all pain-free. And it’s great to be back walking and playing with all my canine buddies at Last Hope Animal Rescue and Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter.
