HSS Rehabilitation Network

Exceptional, accessible outpatient rehabilitative care

The HSS Rehabilitation Network is a hospital-managed membership network of recommended therapy providers.

Founded in 1994, our membership includes over 150 outpatient physical and occupational therapy facilities located throughout the New York Tri-State area, as well as in Palm Beach County, Florida and the suburban Philadelphia area. To become a member, practices must successfully complete a rigorous application and inspection process which evaluates their credentials, provision of care, facilities and scope of service. For patients who cannot utilize the Hospital for their outpatient rehabilitation, it provides a resource for locating exceptional, convenient therapy providers in their own communities.

Do you need an outstanding therapist? We can help you find one.

Hospital for Special Surgery's Rehabilitation Network is a membership organization, under the management of Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). Founded in 1994, it includes over 150 outpatient physical and occupational therapy facilities located throughout the New York Tri-State area, as well as in Palm Beach County, Florida and the suburban Philadelphia area.

The Network collaborates with community based therapy practices to achieve its goal of providing patients with a resource by which they can easily and confidently access the highest level of care, close to where they live or work.

Network members are selected through a rigorous application and inspection process which evaluates their credentials, provision of care, facilities and scope of service. Membership criteria are based on HSS’ internal standards and designed with the patient in mind, to ensure both quality and patient satisfaction. Once a practice is accepted into the Network, it is re-evaluated on an ongoing basis, in order to ensure that it continues to demonstrate a consistent level of quality and compliance with Network standards.

The combined expertise of HSS and our Network members, along with an emphasis on world-class professional education and advanced research efforts, puts the HSS Rehabilitation Network at the top level of excellence in musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

Other Good Things to Know

Are the practices in the Rehabilitation Network owned by HSS?

Except where specifically noted as a HSS owned facility, members of the Network are independently owned and operated and their staff are not employees of HSS.

Can you use the Network even if you are not a patient at Hospital for Special Surgery?

Yes, services of Rehabilitation Network members are open to everyone. Staff at the Network's main office are available at 212.606.1317, to assist anyone in finding a therapist appropriate for his or her needs.

Which practice is the most suitable for me?

While all Network facilities must meet HSS' standards for membership, each practice is a little different. There are a number of ways to find the most suitable Network practice for you. In addition to the complete list of Network facilities, there is a user-friendly search feature on our website's home page, where you can look up practices by name, location, or specialty. The website also has an individual description for each Network facility. For more detailed information, you can contact the Network main office at 212.606.1317 and we’ll gladly assist you in your selection. Of course you are also welcome to call any practice you’re considering directly.

How do I know which practices accept my insurance?

In many cases, practices' individual descriptions contain information on the insurance plans they accept. You can also call us at 212.606.1317 and we will try to direct you to a Network practice that accepts your insurance. However, coverage changes frequently; so you will need to verify that the practice accepts your particular insurance when you call to set up your initial appointment.

There’s a therapy practice in my neighborhood, How do I know if it’s part of the Network?

Only those practices listed on our webpage are Network members.  Network practices have a plaque in their office identifying them as participating members. While the Network staff gladly offers personal assistance in selecting a practice within our membership, we are unable to provide information on therapy practices outside of our Network. You are free to use any therapist of your choosing; you are not required to use a Network therapist.

I do not see any facilities near me. How can I find a good therapy practice in my community?

While the Network covers a large area, it's not possible to have a member facility in every community. The best sources for recommendations are friends, family or colleagues who may have used a therapist in the area and been happy with their care. Sometimes your HSS orthopedist or local personal physician can suggest someone who isn't part of the Network.
