About Dr. Williamson
Dr. Emilie Williamson is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who is specialized in foot and ankle orthopedic conditions, including arthritis, ankle instability, and both congenital and acquired deformities such as flatfoot, high arches, bunions, and hammertoes.
Dr. Williamson received her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona where she studied both physiology and dance performance. She then received her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, followed by her orthopedic surgery residency training at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital. She then underwent additional specialized foot and ankle fellowship training at the Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy Medical Center. There, she trained under the leading experts in foot and ankle surgery, with additional training in minimally invasive surgery through MIFAS (Minimally Invasive Foot and Ankle Society).
As a former dancer, having started dance at the age of 3, Dr. Williamson brings a unique perspective to treating all of her patients including athletes, dancers, and performers through a deep understanding of the need to return to activity. She trained at the University of Arizona in ballet, jazz, and tap, as well as with the Radio City Rockettes, and at the Joffrey Ballet. She continues regular dance training to this day.
Dr. Williamson's expertise in treating a wide variety of foot and ankle conditions begins, when possible, with a conservative approach first, focused on prevention of pain or injury. When necessary if non-operative management is not enough or not indicated, she is committed to performing precise, diligent surgery. She is passionate about ensuring thorough patient understanding, education, and joint decision making to meet the needs and goals of each individual patient.
