Dr. Tanaka is a board certified anesthesiologist at HSS. He completed his anesthesiology residency and then a fellowship in adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center where he became board certified in advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography. Prior to his appointment at HSS, Dr. Tanaka worked as a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist at a large tertiary care center, where he developed an interest in point-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS). He is a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE) in recognition of his educational and research contributions in echocardiography and PoCUS.
