About Dr. Stucken

 

Dr. Charlton Stucken is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder surgery as well as complex arthroscopic, open, and computer-assisted surgery of the knee and shoulder. He is double board certified in sports medicine and orthopedic surgery.

After graduating from Cornell University, Dr. Stucken completed medical school at Boston University where he was honored to be the commencement speaker. He returned to Boston University for his orthopedic surgery residency. As a resident, he worked closely with multiple collegiate hockey teams and he won the award for excellence in research. Dr. Stucken then completed his sports medicine fellowship at the prestigious Rothman Institute in Philadelphia where he worked as part of the medical staff for the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers, as well as multiple Philadelphia colleges.

Prior to joining HSS Florida, Dr. Stucken took care of patients in South Florida for over a decade. He was the head team physician for the Florida Launch lacrosse team, and he has taken care of multiple area collegiate athletes. As a Clinical Affiliate Assistant Professor at Florida Atlantic University, he works closely teaching medical students and residents. His goal is to get his patients back to doing the things they love, whether that is playing a professional sport or exercising for fun.

Dr. Stucken is the reviewer of leading orthopedic journals, including the American Journal of Sports Medicine, and Sports Health. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters and has presented his research at national meetings. He has also served as the Chief of Staff at Bethesda Hospital and Chairman of the credentials committee.
