Dr. Abhishek Gupta is a dual board certified anesthesiologist and pain medicine specialist dedicated to advancing the field of interventional pain management. He specializes in treating acute and chronic pain conditions, with expertise in spinal cord stimulation and minimally invasive spine treatments. His clinical approach integrates evidence based interventional techniques with multimodal pain therapies and rehabilitation strategies to enhance patient outcomes.
Dr. Gupta’s expertise spans a wide range of interventional spine and musculoskeletal procedures, including epidural and facet injections, joint and bursa injections, nerve blocks, and radiofrequency ablations. His research and clinical interests focus on minimally invasive spine treatments, neuromodulation, opioid-sparing pain management, and emerging therapies for chronic pain conditions. He has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and conference presentations, covering topics such as spinal cord stimulation advancements and innovative pharmacological interventions.
Dr. Gupta earned his Bachelor of Arts from New York University before completing his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of NYIT. He pursued his anesthesiology residency at New York Medical College - Westchester Medical Center, followed by an ACGME-accredited fellowship in pain management at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Following the completion of his training, Dr. Gupta served as Assistant Professor at Stony Brook University Hospital’s Center for Pain Management. Dr. Gupta played a key role in resident and fellow education, mentoring future leaders in anesthesiology and pain medicine. His dedication to medical education earned him a nomination for the Faculty Excellence in Resident/Fellow Mentoring Award. He has been recognized by his peers and given the honor of New York Super Doctor.
Dr. Gupta is actively involved in professional societies, including the American Society of Pain & Neuroscience (ASPN), the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), and the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS). He is also engaged in national-level committees to advance anesthesiology and pain medicine education.
Dr. Gupta focuses on personalized and compassionate care, tailoring treatments to each patient’s unique needs. His goal is to improve well-being and enhance daily function, empowering patients to regain control over their lives and achieve long-term pain relief.
