Dr. Jeffrey Ciccone treats a wide array of conditions with focus on acute and chronic pain management. He specializes in interventional spine, sports and musculoskeletal medicine and procedures, with particular interest in advancing the field of neuromodulation (nerve stimulation).
His expertise in spine and musculoskeletal techniques includes epidural and facet blocks, joint and nerve injections, tendon and soft tissue injections using various imaging guidance including fluoroscopy and ultrasonography. He is also highly experienced in spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulation, platelet-rich plasma techniques and radiofrequency ablation techniques. He has developed keen interest and clinical acumen in employing multimodal therapies using technological advances in conjunction with physical therapy, lifestyle modification and rehabilitative techniques.
He received his Bachelor of Arts at Cornell University and went on to earn his Medical Degree from Stony Brook School of Medicine. He subsequently completed his ACGME board certification residency in anesthesiology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He further went on to ACGME accredited fellowship training for pain management at the Tri-Institutional Pain Medicine Fellowship at Weill Cornell Medicine, Hospital for Special Surgery, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
After a year of working in the private sector, he was recruited by Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai to help build the outpatient and inpatient pain management practice and help develop the sub-department of Integrative Pain Management with colleagues. During this tenure for 10 years, he trained over 70 fellows in interventional pain management. He also served as an official MD acupuncturist and physician on staff at the US Open Tennis Championships in Flushing Meadows, with direct medical work and staffing in the training room of the ATP players.
Dr. Ciccone takes pride in his down-to-earth, realistic, patient-centric and restorative approach to pain management. He has been recognized by his peers and awarded Castle Connolly Top Doctors and has given multiple lectures, training workshops, panel discussions, and peer-reviewed publications in his career.
