Regional Anesthesiology & Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship

Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain Management

Overview

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Hospital for Special Surgery offers a 12-month ACGME-accredited fellowship in Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine (RAAPM). Since 1987, this advanced postgraduate program has trained more than 200 fellows at one of the nation’s leading institutions in regional anesthesia, with alumni now practicing across the United States and five continents. Fellows work alongside world-renowned faculty in state-of-the-art facilities while caring for a broad and complex patient population.

As a fellow at HSS, you will receive comprehensive, hands-on training in regional anesthesia and acute pain management in a collaborative, supportive environment. Our innovative curriculum is designed to build the skills and confidence needed to excel in both academic and private practice settings.

In addition to clinical training, we offer robust academic programs, mentorship, and leadership development to support your career growth. Whether you aspire to lead in research, education, or clinical practice—at an academic center or in private practice—our fellowship provides the foundation to help you achieve your professional goals. Our goal is to provide an outstanding educational experience that empowers fellows to shape the future of regional anesthesiology and acute pain medicine.
