At only 44 years old, I had a partial knee replacement in Upstate, New York in 2016. After a long and painful recovery, my condition began to worsen. I went back to that same surgeon and it was determined that I needed a revision to a total knee replacement in 2019.

Immediately after the surgery, I could tell something was not right. It was extremely painful, even more so than the first time. My entire leg was bruised from hip to toes. I kept returning to the doctor for the next year until he finally said there was no more he could do.

Luckily, my regular physician said that was not acceptable and referred me to HSS where I had an appointment with Dr. Markowicz in 2020. Dr. Markowicz did an x-ray and was able to tell that the hardware had loosened.

A few months later, Dr. Markowicz performed a revision. After the surgery, there was very little bruising and the knee felt better immediately. Even after a nasty fall on the ice just six weeks after surgery, I still had no issues with the knee!

I went from constantly needing a cane and pain medication to needing neither! This doctor gave me back a quality of life I thought was lost forever.
