If I had to describe HSS, I would say the hospital is well organized. The staff is both sensitive to patient's needs and are highly trained. An incredible and positive experience. As to my surgeon, Dr. Andrew Sama, what a doctor! His concerns for his patients is unparalleled. Further, his demeanor is only equalled by his surgical skills. He apologized because my surgery ran longer than expected, and it was a Friday. I replied, "you were doing all the work and all I had to do is sleep!" It is now two and half weeks since surgery, and I'm doing great! Dr. Sama did a major spinal repair, removed bone (laminectomy), relived adhesions from previous surgeries and decompensated numerous spin foramina involving 5 vertebra ( a big deal). I am walking without assistance, and getting physiotherapy at home. I should be back in work in a week. Amazing! Thank you to the whole hospital staff. Dr. Sama, you are a real hero of mine.
