I am a carpenter by trade and spend a lot of time on ladders and climbing and kneeling. Several years ago I started getting pain in my left knee. I continued to work through the pain, which created back problems from not walking correctly. I could barely get through the day and could no longer take walks with my wife, do things while on vacation, or even play with my grandkids. A friend of mine had surgery at HSS and recommended I see his doctor and after injections did not work I made the appointment with Dr. Gonzalez Della Valle. I found out I needed a total knee replacement. On September 24, 2014, I had that total knee replacement at the HSS. Dr. Della Valle and HSS were amazing. I was able to go back to work as a carpenter after only 6 weeks. The picture enclosed is from a resort in Los Cabos, Mexico taken in January of this year. Last year I could not walk these steps and had to use a cart to get around. I can now enjoy vacations and walking and most importantly play with my grandkids. The care I received at HSS was superior to any other hospital I have been in and I believe that helped in my speedy recovery. I recommend anyone needing surgery to go there.
