This was my third surgery with Dr. Geoffrey Westrich. I am a New Yorker, but relocated to Fort Lauderdale six years ago. I found out in August from Dr. Westrich I needed a full knee replacement, which was not a surprise since we have operated on this knee twice before. I fought my husband and friends who felt I should have the surgery here at Holy Cross, but I was adamant I wanted the best surgeon and to me that was Dr. Westrich. I had the surgery on December 29, 2014 and it has been tremendously successful. I went into PT immediately and after 2 1/2 weeks I was able to walk around our hotel room with no cane, could go up steps, could go out to dinner and was able to bend my knee to 116 degrees. I have since come back to Fort Lauderdale where I am in PT and at the 5 week mark am now on the bike for 1/2 hour a day, am able to bend my knee to 128 degrees and my knee and leg are almost flat!! I look forward to my sixth week when I can get into the pool and exercise and finally be able to drive. It was a hard decision to have my surgery done in New York City as we do not have another home there and we had to stay in a hotel which is costly. We decided to give up another trip so I could be able to afford this surgery in New York. The care at the hospital, the care at Dr. Westrich office is rated #1 in my book. I LOVE Dr. Westrich and his Office Manager Denise!!!
