Ek Tsoon Tan is an Associate Scientist in the MRI Lab at Hospital For Special Surgery. Dr Tan earned his PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Mayo Clinic (Rochester MN), and his Bachelor and Master of Engineering from the National University of Singapore. He was previously Principal Scientist at General Electric’s Research Center in Schenectady NY, where he was Multi-PI and co-investigator on several NIH and Department of Defense grants related to diffusion imaging, high-performance MRI gradients and the compact head-only system. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medical Physics at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. Dr. Tan’s research interests are in quantitative MRI, in particular diffusion imaging as applied to musculoskeletal imaging.
