Emily Altman, PT, DPT, CHT, OCS, CLT-LANA

Emily Altman, PT, DPT, CHT, OCS, CLT, WCC is a senior physical therapist at Hospital for Special Surgery's Hand Therapy Center where she has worked as a PT since 1996. Emily obtained her training in Physical Therapy at Columbia University and achieved specialty board certification in hand therapy (CHT) in 2001. Emily has a passion for clinical work and direct patient care that has kept her in the clinic, full time, for all of those years. She is on the faculty of HSS’s Hand Therapy Fellowship, a role in which her love of patient care and clinical reasoning is passed on to students through mentorship. Emily spends most of her free time travelling across the country and internationally attending courses and conferences, listening to experts in the field of hand therapy and surgery. You might also find her running loops of her beloved Central Park. Areas of particular interest and additional certifications include custom orthosis fabrication, lymphedema treatment, manual therapy, wound care and clothing construction. She also enjoys writing and synthesizing information for learning and lectures nationally and internationally.
