Calcium is an important mineral for growing and maintaining strong, healthy bones and teeth in children of all ages. The best dietary sources of calcium are found in dairy foods, green and leafy vegetables, fortified cereals, grains and bread, as well as certain nuts. When taking calcium supplements, keep in mind that vitamin D helps absorb calcium and that different age groups have different daily limits. Too much calcium can lead to health problems like kidney stones.
