Barrett underwent surgery after Michigan game

Toledo Blade—November 30, 2017

Toledo Blade reported that Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett recently underwent arthroscopic knee surgery and was cleared to play the following week.

HSS sports medicine surgeon Moira M. McCarthy, MD, who did not treat Barrett, said "for the athletes I've treated, that's a little bit quick, but everybody is different in terms of their recovery."

She added that if anyone can return from surgery that quickly, it would be an already well-conditioned athlete who has expert medical care and the muscle to negate atrophy from surgery.

"If anybody's going to be able to do it, it's going to be someone like him," Dr. McCarthy said.
