What is Cupping and Why is Michael Phelps a Fan?

If you have been following the Olympics, you may have heard of the increasingly popular treatment to reduce pain known as cupping. Organic Authority writer, Sara Novak, explains cupping and its many benefits.

"Cupping is used to pull blood to the surface which moves chi (energy) and creates a healing response," says Robert Turner, PT, OCS, MS, OM, PMA®-CPT, a physical therapist at Hospital for Special Surgery. He also mentions that, "It reduces pain and inflammation and can help loosen muscles without negative side effects of drugs or injections."
