Jason Machowsky, RD, CSSD, RCEP, CSCS, sports dietician and sports performance specialist at HSS, said sardines are a great option. "Sardines are packed with protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin B12, making them great ways to help build muscle and maintain strong bones," he said.

He also recommended chocolate milk as a "post-training recovery drink".
