If you've already got a pinched nerve causing pain in your neck and your pillow isn't providing you proper support, it could become even more compressed, says Joseph H. Feinberg, MD, physiatrist-in-chief at Hospital of Special Surgery. Then, since those nerves in the spine lead to other parts of the body like the shoulders and upper limbs, you could start to feel numbness, tingling, radiating pain, or even loss of strength in those places.
